ATTENTION RESIDENTS: The City of South Portland Finance Department (Vehicle Registrations & Tax Payments) at City Hall will be RELOCATING to the Community Center at 21 Nelson Road South Portland ME 04106 starting November 9th through the end of April 2021.
We are relocating to the Nutter Road entrance of the Community Center. The Finance Office is open Monday through Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM and on Thursdays from 8:00AM-6:00PM.
All non-essential municipal offices, including City Hall, will be closed on November 11 for Veterans Day.
Bus Service will be open and operate as normally scheduled. Trash & Recycling pick-up will occur as normally scheduled.
The annual Veterans Day Parade, hosted by the South Portland War Veteran’s Memorial Association, has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, the Association will be holding a short Memorial Service at the South Portland War Memorial Monument in Mill Creek Park on November 11, 2020 at 11:00am. All are encouraged to safely attend.
The last day to vote absentee in-person without special circumstances is Friday, October 30!
The City Clerk's office will remain open from 8:00am until 5:00pm on Friday for in-person voting and voter registration.
Ballots must be returned to City Hall and received by 8:00pm on Election Day. We have a dropbox located outside in the back of City Hall at 25 Cottage Road available 24/7 for ballot drop-off, or you may return your ballot in the mail. More information is available on our website.
In specific, we want to learn more about how it has affected your household and how you feel the various levels of government have responded to this pandemic. Your responses to our COVID-19 survey will help us improve our education, outreach, and enforcement efforts.
We've translated the COVID-19 survey into six different languages (with a seventh coming soon) in hopes that we will hear from all members of our community who want to provide input. Thank you in advance for your feedback!
The City is looking for feedback on how to improve transportation along the Broadway corridor!
The Cushing’s Point Transportation Study will look at improvements for bike and pedestrian facilities, existing traffic signal operations, bus service, and other opportunities to make better transportation use of the corridor. It also includes an exploratory analysis of ferry service to and from downtown Portland. Click here for an online survey and here to see details about the study.
South Portland Public Works will again be working with the Age Friendly South Portland Committee to provide buckets of sand to the city's seniors and individuals with mobility issues. Call (207) 767-7635 for more information or to have a bucket delivered or one from last year refilled.
For those who would like to remove leaves...
Public Works will begin curbside leaf collection on Monday, November 16. Leaves in compostable paper bags should be placed curbside by Sunday, November 15. We appreciate your patience as we work our way across the city.
Leaves may also be brought to the Transfer Facility in compostable paper bags or in bulk. (You could also use plastic trash bags for the purpose of transporting, but leaves MUST be emptied out of them and the plastic bags brought home to be reused or discarded.)
